Community & Culture

Vestacon is involved in supporting the communities where we live and work by contributing to various charities.

Vestacon brings our work with Habitat for Humanity to the West coast, engaging several consultants and trades in a Habitat Build Day for Greater Vancouver.

Since 2011, Vestacon has participated in Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area - Women Build Day. An annual event that engages volunteers to raise funds and awareness for this great cause and concludes in a build day. Now, our team in Vancouver joins in and takes it to the next level. In collaboration with Habitat for Humanity - Greater Vancouver, Vestacon in Vancouver engaged several consultants and trades to participate in a Habitat Build Day. On November 20, 2020, the collaborative effort between Vestacon and our Partners helped Habitat for Humanity make a difference for low-income families in Mission, BC. Read more about this build day and how you can contribute.

Thank you to all our Build Day partners for your commitment to this great cause!

Habitat for Humanity Women Build 2019

In May 2019, Vestacon took part in the 10th Women Build for Habitat for Humanity GTA that took place in Scarborough, Ontario. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit housing organization that mobilizes communities to help working, lower-income families by building affordable homeownership. Since founded over 360 homes have been built, creating new opportunities for families, including 1,300 children. Vestacon has participated since 2011, and we are proud to be a part of building safer and stronger communities. This year Team Vestacon raised $10,230 for Habitat for Humanity.

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), affiliated with the University of Toronto, is Canada's most research-intensive hospital and the largest center dedicated to improving children's health in the country. As innovators in child health, SickKids improves the health of children by integrating care, research, and teaching.

With a staff that includes professionals from all disciplines of health care and research, SickKids provides the best in complex and specialized care by creating scientific and clinical advancements, sharing knowledge and expertise, and championing the development of an accessible, comprehensive and sustainable child health system.

Engaging in our local communities from coast to coast, Vestacon also supports BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. BC Children’s Hospital and Sunny Hill Health Centre have 630 visits from sick and injured children daily. Though their needs are unique, together with their families, these children all experience the same journey on the search for hope. By purchasing over a hundred copies of their annual holiday cards, Vestacon is supporting BC Children’s Hospital Foundation by sending these and several Endorsement Letters out prior to the holidays. By doing this Vestacon takes part in making a difference in the lives of 93,000 children every year. Donations support the most urgent needs of the hospital, ensuring they can provide the lifesaving care and treatments required to support children across British Columbia. The 2020 holiday card chosen by Vestacon was made by John Ferrie, a Vancouver-based artist, and shows the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver. The CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish program has become one of the largest distributors of toys to children in need in the Greater Toronto Area. The program also provides financial assistance to hundreds of agencies, ensuring that hundreds of thousands of children across the GTA enjoy a holiday experience. With the help of The Royal Bank of Canada, Air Miles, as well as the generous donations from their loyal viewers and listeners, the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish in conjunction with Toronto Social Services assisted hundreds of thousands of people in need through toy and financial support.

At Vestacon we support the toy drive in a creative way. Every year our Toronto office staff draws the name of a co-worker, Secret Santa style, and then buys a toy that reminds them of that person. We then collect the toys and everyone gets to guess which toy matches who in the office. After that, the toys are donated.

Building relationships starts at home, at Vestacon we work on our communication and collaboration skills every day.

At Vestacon we believe that a collaborative everyday work-life build better teams. With catered lunches four days per week, a break area with a foosball table and a dartboard, we offer our team social luncheons and a chance to catch a break away from their computer or phone. Our Principals practices an open-door policy, giving the team a chance to discuss projects, ideas, and everyday operations without struggling to book time for it. This, we feel, is a great way to keep the Vestacon team informed on developments in projects, as well as other matters that Vestacon is involved in, and that requires our attention and action.
